LETTUCE BEGIN.

GREETINGS,

Orders for this week’s THURSDAY PICK-UP can be placed from the time you get this email until WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT 8:00.

Pick-up will be THURSDAY at the Union Mill from 5:00 to 8:00 and at the farm from 4:30 on.

Next week we’ll return to the usual Friday pick-up.

PLEASE NOTE – squash harvest can be unpredictable. Some weeks there may be more of one type than another. Please order whichever variety or varieties you want and we’ll try to provide. WE’LL SUBSTITUTE ONE TYPE FOR ANOTHER, IF NEEDED. BUT, if you only want cousa and not zucchini, for example, please let us know in the comment section of your order and we won’t substitute.

ALSO, sometimes we come up short of something and might have to divide what’s available among the different orders so you might not get the amount you wanted, or worst case scenario, that veggie won’t be available at all.

MOST OF THE TIME we manage to avoid substitutions or limiting amounts, but it can happen. Farming is a biological, not industrial process and the variables are many.

As of right now most of the crops are looking very good and we’re still one step ahead of the weeds thanks to Madeleine and now Jill, who has joined us for the part time position. Now if we can keep temps in the low to mid 80s, get an inch of rain a week and avoid all the usual problems…,but that would make it too easy.

Enjoy,
Tim

FIRST MARKET THURSDAY JULY 3

Greetings,

We do still exist and we are still farming! Every year even I feel like the harvest is long in coming so I’m sure some of you are scratching your head and wondering where the produce is. In fact, the harvest has begun the first week of July every year except one since we began the online market eight years ago. The exception was in 2012 when we began the last week of June.

The start of the online market is tied to the start of our Boston farmer’s market. That way we can grow enough quantity to provide for both markets. The Boston market begins the first week of July.

So – because Friday is the holiday THE FIRST MARKET WILL BE THURSDAY JULY 3. The locations and pick-up times will be the same.

I’LL UPDATE THE SITE AND SEND ANOTHER EMAIL ON TUESDAY AND ORDERING CAN BEGIN TUESDAY NIGHT.

If you have any questions or comments please let me know.

Thanks,
Tim
